The Springfield Police Department provides law enforcement services to a population of approximately 9,400 residents,
covering 49 square miles and has been described as one of the busiest departments in Windsor County.
The Police Force currently consists of 3 Patrol Sergeants (2 positions are vacant) ;
1-Detective Sergeant; 2 Corporals; 2 Detectives; 9 Patrol Officers and a Parking Enforcement Officer.
Each year law enforcement officers respond to approximately
6,600 calls for service; participate in grant-funded DUI enforcement activities and
perform various motor vehicle enforcement details, including "Click It or Ticket".
The Emergency Communications Center of the Springfield PD, consists of:
4 Full-Time Dispatchers; 1 Twenty-Hour a week Permanent Part-Time Dispatcher;
and 2 part-time Dispatchers
Dispatch answers roughly 60,000 phone calls a year.
Coverage area includes Springfield Police, Fire & EMS.
